AirAsia has launched its one-stop online travel portal which it says will revolutionise the way travel plans are made. Indeed, Kathleen Tan, regional head of commercial, said the launch of AirAsiaGo.com “charts another milestone for the online travel agent industry” and that the airline intends to “take it by storm”.

AirAsiaGo.com takes off from where the previous site, GoHoliday, left off. The new holiday travel portal offers guests personalized and customized solutions to suit travel needs and budgets, says the low-cost airline.

Guests will be able to choose from a selection of over 70,000 hotels worldwide, and more than 5,000 tour packages with specialized activities ranging from music, theatre, diving, golf, spa & adventure.

Said Tan, “AirAsiaGo.com is the online travel portal for any traveler, and yes, we dare to claim so. It is clearly simple, as we offer the widest range and variety of hotels, tours and activities in the Asia region, coupled with ultimate convenience for guests as a one-stop online travel portal.”

Combined with the fact that “guests can book AirAsia flights via the site with unbelievable low fares”, she said the new portal offered convenience for today’s travellers and their hectic lifestyles.

She said that the implementation of ezRez software also provides “an enhanced browsing and navigational experience for guests throughout the website”.

Also available are reviews from fellow travelers upon selection of their hotel preferences and travel options.

“As travel demands change according to people’s lifestyle and trends, we see the need to adapt and innovate as well,” said Tan.

“We received 25.5 million unique visitors to our AirAsia.com site last month, with more than 65 million visits. The expansion of our holiday division, AirAsiaGo.com will now enable our AirAsia guests to personalize and customize their travel experience according to their preference and budget.”

Tan said the website had seen a 30% to 50% growth in sales since the rebranding as AirAsiaGo.com in February this year.

AirAsiaGo.com is available in 13 different countries, with six different languages and payment options in 16 currencies.

John Swanciger, senior vice president of sales & marketing, ezRez, said that to date, AirAsiaGo.com has achieved a significant 100,000 room nights on the ezRez system, “and judging from the size of our other partners; this record is certainly no small feat. We expect this number will significantly grow as AirAsia continues expanding to new markets around the globe.”

Meanwhile, AirAsia has won a global award for its outstanding use of information and communication technology (ICT) to advance business.

The Malaysia-based low cost airline received the Global ICT Excellence Award in the private sector category from the World Information Technology and Service Alliance (WITSA) at its 17th World Congress in Information Technology in Amsterdam, which attracted some 2,000 delegates from 80 countries.

The awards are given out every two years by WITSA, whose members make up over 90 percent of the global ICT market. Of the seven winners, AirAsia was the only one from the ASEAN region.
